No Nokia lovin’ for MeeGo
It’s sad to see Nokia go the way of Windows Phone 7. Which is not to discount Microsoft’s mobile operating system, I’ve used it and it is actually a really great OS. But Symbian had a great following of mobile developers, its sad they couldn’t have made Symbian a rival to the current breed of OSs, or at least transition their focus to MeeGo. With Nokia not owning there own stack, it seems like they will simply go the way of all the other hardware manufactures, which is unfortunate because they have been one of the big innovators in the mobile software space. I would hope that they can contribute significantly to WP7, but we will see how that partnership goes. The N9 gave me a glimmer of hope, especially with my friend Igor saying that he had a great time with it:

Reading this article today was really disappointing though:

Why even bother releasing the phone when they have no intention to carry on with it? At least if they supported both WP7 and MeeGo they would have multiple options. We’ll see if there bets pay off. I for one think that abandoning MeeGo is a huge mistake — they could have had a great OS with a sea of Symbian developers to kick start them to success. It will be fun to see how this all plays out in the next few years.
